Local Chapters

PNHP-CA has regional chapters that provide local education and advocacy. Many now meet remotely which has helped us gather throughout our large state. Our chapters always welcome new members and new members often remark that it is gratifying to find a group of like-minded people so knowledgeable and passionate about healthcare reform.

If there is not an established chapter near you, it is easy to form one! A PNHP chapter charter can be signed with five members, with at least three physicians. To learn more about chapter formation, contact: organizer@pnhp.org

Many California medical schools have SNaHP chapters: Students for a National Health Program. To form a chapter at your school, visit:

PNHP Los Angeles

PNHP-LA welcomes physicians, interns, residents, students, and other healthcare advocates motivated to contribute to the establishment of a state or national single-payer healthcare system.  Current goals are protecting accessibility to original MediCare and MediCal, which are under threat of privatization. The U.S. deserves better health statistics at a lower cost, as other developed nations enjoy.  Our meetings are monthly on Zoom.

PNHP Bay Area

PNHP-Bay Area has been meeting monthly since the pre-ACA era.

We cover the greater Bay Area but welcome PNHP members and students from anywhere in California; non-members are also welcome, including advocates who are not health professionals.

Meetings are currently over Zoom on the 2nd Saturday of the month from 10 AM to noon. For information, email <pnhpca@pnhp.org>.

Activities focus on education, organizing, and direct action when opportunities present.

Current chapter coordinators are Hank Abrons, MD, MPH; Maziar Shirazi, MD; and Stephen Vernon, MFT.

PNHP Santa Barbara

PNHP Santa Barbara has members who live in and around Santa Barbara.

We have a monthly meeting with members of Healthcare for All on the third Wednesday of every month by Zoom at 7-8:30 PM.

We welcome all single payer supporters to join us.
Chair is Dr. Nancy Greep.  ncgreep@gmail.com

PNHP Ventura

The Ventura PNHP chapter, in conjunction with Physicians for Progress Ventura County, coordinates activities with local groups who support Single Payer on an ad hoc basis. If you live in Ventura County and would like to be added to our mailing list, please contact us at pfpventura@gmail.com.

PNHP Humboldt

Humboldt PNHP/Advocates for Single Payer (ASP) is located behind the Redwood Curtain along the northernmost coast of CA. As a collaborative group, we work together to educate and advocate for Improved Medicare for All. We have members in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Mendocino counties and welcome any new members and colleagues wanting to learn more and promote the positive transformation of our current dysfunctional medical system toward one that serves people rather than corporate greed. We meet on Zoom, and occasionally as a hybrid in-person/Zoom event, every fourth Wednesday of the month from 5:00-6:30 PM. You can reach us at  healthcareforallhumboldt@gmail.com.

PNHP Napa/Sonoma

PNHP Napa County has members from Napa and Sonoma counties. We join with our active local group of HealthCare for All members for our monthly meetings:

The second Tuesday of every month via Zoom
